Didsbury Golf Club - Manchester

Manchester United Football Club

The most successful club of recent times was formed in a slightly less than glamorous manner - a club called Newton Heath being founded by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company in 1878. In 1902 they went bankrupt and Manchester United were born. United always enjoyed moderate success but in the Fifties and Sixties under Matt Busby they won five titles and a European Cup in an era that was only marred by the Munich Air Disaster which claimed much of the first-team squad. Fast Fact:The first five times United entered the European Cup, they never failed to get to the semi-final stage.


Manchester City Football Club

The famous name of Manchester City has been in existence since 1894 - when their predecessors Ardwick went into bankruptcy. They then played at Hyde Road but in 1923 they would move to Maine Road, the scene of many triumphs and disappointments. City have won two titles - the second coming in 1968 in the midst of their most successful era, under Joe Mercer, when they won the FA Cup, League Cup and Cup-Winners' Cup as well as the championship in a glorious three-year period. Fast Fact:Bert Trautmann, a former World War Two German POW, led City to a 3-1 win against Birmingham City in the 1956 FA Cup Final and played with a broken neck! Fast Fact:City's John Burridge is the oldest player to appear in the Premiership. He played in goal for Man City in their 3-2 loss to QPR in May 1995 aged 43 years and 5 months.


Wythenshawe Hall and Park - Manchester

Wythenshawe Park covers some 250 acres of prime parkland to the immediate south of the city. It constitutes a major leisure facility for the people of south Manchester, and in particular, the vast Wythenshawe housing estate which surrounds it. Beautifully maintained, it has numerous facilities and sporting attractions including several football pitches, tennis courts, bowling greens and children's play areas. Wythenshawe Hall was built by the Tatton family who lived their between 1540 and 1926, when Robert Greville Tatton sold the hall and park to Lord Simon of Wythenshawe, who immediately donated them to the City of Manchester. Several rooms are open to the public, including the Dining Room and the Drawing Room, the latter being the oldest surviving part of the original 1540 house.

Stockport County Football Club

Stockport County Club Formed in 1883. Edgeley Park is the home of Stockport County Football Club and Sale Sharks Rugby Union club. It is now over 100 years old and has seen on its hallowed turf many of football's greats, including George Best who played for Stockport County in 1975. The ground is built in the classical Northern style with the more recently added Cheadle End (which seats 5000) providing a modern aspect and keeping Edgeley Park as a stadium full of atmosphere and fit for modern requirements.

We are delighted to extend a warm welcome to you to one of the most picturesque Parkland golf courses in the North of England, within five miles of Manchester and both the M62 and M60 motorway links. The river Medlock features on six of the holes as it meanders through the course, making it both challenging and interesting. Although the course can be described as undulating, buggies are available for hire;and the views have to be seen to be believed. The 12th tee gives a spectacular view of virtually the whole of the course. To provide facilities for good golf always has been, and hopefully always will be, our primary objective.

Styal Golf Club - Wilmslow

The 18 Hole Golf Course opened in 1994, set in 160 acres of Cheshire's finest countryside. Designed and created by Tony Holmes Golf Course Construction, measuring 6,194 yards off the competition tees consisting of full U.S.G.A. specification Greens for all year round playability. The golf course has many challenging and enjoyable holes within its layout, with the 9th and 18th greens both arriving in close proximity to the Clubhouse. Swinton Park Golf Club - Manchester

The high standard of quality presentation is evident in every inch of the 6519 yard golf course at Swinton Park Golf Club. The rebuilding of tees and the introduction of hundreds of mature trees, and construction of new water features and pathways, along with constant care and attention to detail from a dedicated course team provides for arguably, the most consistently well prepared course in the north of England. Ringway Golf Club - Altrincham

Rolling over mature Cheshire parkland with extensive views towards the Lancashire hills and Derbyshire Peaks Ringway Golf Club has an outstanding pedigree. Founded in 1908 by members of Hale and Ashley Cricket Club, the aim was to create a course of the highest calibre and a welcoming clubhouse. Harry Colt, the world famous course designer laid out the course, which was further developed by James Braid Jnr and today boasts 18 holes measuring 6,482 yards and is considered among the finest in Cheshire. Conveniently located just 2 miles from Manchester Airport, Ringway is within easy reach of some of the North West's finest hotels as well as the regions motorway networks.


Bramhall Golf Club - Stockport

Bramhall Golf Club was founded in 1905 with nine holes, and was extended to 18 holes shortly after. It is one of the most beautiful parkland courses in Cheshire and measures 6,347 yards par 70 for Gentlemen and 5,689 yards par 73 for Ladies. The course provides a fine test of golf for the low handicapper but does not prove too punishing for the majority. The high standard of the course is reflected in the fact that the Club regularly hosts County and Regional Fixtures, and has also had the honour of staging National Golf Events.

Dukinfield Golf Club - Dukinfield

The club was founded on the 12th July 1913 and, in 1988, celebrated it's 75th Jubilee. The provisional plan of the course was one of nine holes with a playing length of 2520 yards. Today, however it boasts a challenging but enjoyable 18 holes over a total of 5338 yards. On the 25th July the Club purchased 13.8 acres of land known as Plot 2 to the side of Matley tee at auction. Plot 1 was purchased by another bidder who subsequently contacted the Club to offer us all but 9.8 acres of the land he bought. Following successful negotiations we have now purchased a further 42.2 acres of land.


Boysnope Park Golf Club - Manchester

The undulating landscape of the course reveals natural ponds and attractive water features as you play. Our high standard is evident when you see the large contoured greens and spacious raised tees. Dunham Massey - Manchester

When the house and estate of Dunham Massey was bequeathed to the National Trust in 1976, it was one of the most generous the Trust was granted. Today, the ancient, walled deer park, tranquil gardens, lake and house provide a varied and peaceful day for the visitor. The oldest record of the deer park is in 1362 and it is known that the moat, which partly survives as the ornamental lake, once surrounded the old Manor House, possibly a castle before then. The now substantially flattened mound which is on the south-east corner of the house, may have been a Norman motte, but this is uncertain.


The Anson Engine Museum

The Anson Engine Museum is located on the site of the old AnsonColliery at Poynton, near Stockport, Cheshire in the UK. The main building houses a large collection of engines all maintained in running order ranging from very early Crossley gas engines through to more modern diesels. The collection covers the entire life so far of the internal combustion engine with examples of every major development on display. Power for the museum is generated onsite by a Gardner 4L2, a Ruston 5YE and a Crossley BW4. Work is progressing on the new building, to be named the Les Cawley Memorial Building. The large Hornsby gas engine is now erected and has been turned over on air. Along with a number of other larger engines it will be housed in a new building waiting to be erected alongside the Stott.


Mellor and Townscliffe Golf Club - Stockport

Lying on the western hills of the Pennines where Derbyshire and Cheshire meet, Mellor is an interesting mixture of moorland and parkland golf. Magnificent views across the Cheshire plain and Derbyshire hills serve as a backdrop for a course to test the skills of all golfers at all levels. The opening holes although not long provide an immediate examination of shotmaking ability and are set amongst mixed woodland including oak and elegant silver birch. Holes seven to twelve now assume the true moorland character and the golfer who plays to his handicap on these challenging holes will be well satisfied.


Oldham Athletic Football Club

Boundary Park is the main sport stadium in Oldham, England, located to the north of the town. Oldham Athletic Association Football Club and Oldham Roughyeds R.L.F.C. play their home games there. Away Fans are situated in the Rochdale Road End (covered), there's has been a debate between Latics fans for many years whether or not to Move home fans into the Rochdale Road End. The Away End is without a doubt one of if not thee best away stand's for creating alot of noise. The Acoustics are Class. Boundary Park still has it's reputation of being a cold ground, and the whether in Oldham can be unpredictable to say the least.
